OTT Movies Verdict: How We Classify Hits & Flops

Just like theatrical releases, we also analyze movies released directly on OTT platforms to determine their success. Since OTT films do not have traditional box office collections, we use a different set of criteria to classify them as a Hit or Flop.

How We Evaluate OTT Movies

  1. Binge Rating – We consider the movie’s rating based on audience engagement and watch time. A higher binge rating indicates strong viewer interest.

  2. Critical & User Reviews – We analyze expert reviews and audience feedback to assess the film’s reception.

  3. OTT Views in the First Week – The number of views a movie receives in its opening week plays a crucial role in determining its success.

  4. Retention Rate – If a movie maintains a strong viewership over time, it is more likely to be a Hit. A sharp decline in views may indicate a lack of audience interest.

OTT Movie Verdicts

  • Hit – If a film receives high engagement, strong reviews, and significant views in its first week, it is considered a Hit.
  • Flop – If the movie fails to attract viewers, receives negative reviews, and has low engagement, it is labeled a Flop.
