Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 4:

Rajinikanth's new film Vettaiyan has performed exceptionally well at the worldwide box office during its 4-day long weekend. Although the budget of the film was quite large, and the earnings fell slightly short of expectations, Vettaiyan has still managed to earn decently. It has now claimed the title of the second-highest-grossing Kollywood film of 2024. Earlier, Thalapathy Vijay's film, The Greatest of All Time, was the highest-grossing film of the year. Let’s take a detailed look at how much Vettaiyan has earned so far.

A Fantastic Opening Weekend

The film had a great start. On the first day, it earned ₹32 crores. However, on the second day, there was a slight dip, and the earnings fell to ₹24 crores. On the third day, the film bounced back with ₹27 crores. On the fourth day, which was Sunday, the ‘Sunday curse’ affected the night shows, leading to slightly lower occupancy, resulting in a collection of ₹23 crores.

Domestic Collection in India

After the 4-day long weekend, Vettaiyan earned ₹106 crores net at the Indian box office. Including taxes, the total domestic collection stands at ₹125.08 crores. While this is a good score, more was expected from a Rajinikanth film.

How Did It Perform Overseas?

In overseas markets, Vettaiyan performed decently, grossing ₹65 crores. However, even here, higher expectations were set. Nevertheless, the film has done well overall. If we combine the gross collections from India and overseas, the worldwide total amounts to ₹190.08 crores. It has surpassed the lifetime collections of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 (₹150.94 crores) and Dhanush’s Ryan (₹155.92 crores), becoming the second-highest-grossing Kollywood film of 2024.

Rajinikanth’s Star Power Remains Strong, But Did It Meet Expectations?

Although the film has made a good start, more was expected considering Rajinikanth’s star power and the large budget of the film. Even so, it has become the second biggest Kollywood hit of 2024.
