Film’s Co-Producer Approaches Bombay High Court When the film wasn’t cleared by the Censor Board for a long time, co-producer Zee Entertainment filed a petition in the Bombay High Court. Finally, after a lengthy wait, Kangana’s Emergency received the certificate from the board.


Kangana Shares Her Joy with Fans The filmmakers petitioned the Bombay High Court, alleging that the Censor Board was delaying certification due to political reasons. After the court reprimanded the board and directed them to issue the certificate, the film was finally approved. Kangana Ranaut shared this happy news with her fans through her official X account.


Controversy Surrounding the ‘Emergency’ Trailer The controversy around Emergency began as soon as the trailer was released. Several Sikh communities objected to the film's content, leading to the postponement of its release.


Plot of the Film and Star Cast

The movie is based on the 21-month-long Emergency in India from 1975 to 1977, imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Kangana not only stars in the film but also directs it. Alongside her, Mahima Chaudhry makes a comeback to the big screen, with actors like Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Milind Soman, and Shreyas Talpade in pivotal roles.
