Thalapathy Vijay has written a new chapter in history with his latest release 'The Greatest of All Time'. In the first four days, while the film has raked in massive collections domestically and globally, the Kollywood superstar has made a new mark in South cinema. In just four days, his film GOAT has grossed around ₹288 crore worldwide. He is the only South Indian superstar with eight films in the global box office 200-crore club.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT was released in theaters last Thursday, September 5. Vijay plays a double role in the film. Released with a bumper advance booking of ₹24.50 crore in the country, the film made a spectacular opening with ₹44 crore on the first day. However, on the second day, Friday, the film saw a significant drop in earnings, collecting ₹25.50 crore. But over the weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, it soared again.
GOAT movie collection on Day 4:
On Sunday, the fourth day, GOAT, including its Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions, made a net collection of ₹34.20 crore in the country. A day earlier, on Saturday, it earned ₹33.50 crore. In this way, the action film has done a total business of ₹137.20 crore domestically over the first weekend. Once again, a massive crowd was seen in South Indian theaters on Sunday, with an average occupancy rate of 71%.
The budget of 'The Greatest of All Time' is reported to be ₹400 crore. Reportedly, Thalapathy Vijay charged a fee of ₹200 crore for the film. In just four days, the film has grossed around ₹282 crore worldwide. It is noteworthy that Vijay is not only the biggest star in Kollywood but also in the entire South Indian film industry, being the only superstar with eight films in the worldwide 200-crore club. In this regard, he has surpassed legends like Rajinikanth and Prabhas.
