Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency, made with a Budget of Rs 60 Crore, will not be Released now Due to the Controversy, the Central Government Replied in the High Court

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has faced a setback from the Jabalpur High Court, which has directed that her upcoming film "Emergency" should not be released for now. The central government has also presented its arguments before the court, noting that the film has not yet received a certification, making its release uncertain for the time being.

The High Court has imposed a temporary stay on the release of "Emergency." Meanwhile, the government has submitted its response to the court, stating that the film lacks the necessary certification. The court has instructed the government to consider the objections raised against the film, allowing the petitioners to present their objections. Even after the release, if objections arise, the petitioners can return to the court.

It is important to note that a petition was filed by the Sikh community against the release of "Emergency," claiming that the film portrays Sikhs in a negative light. The High Court held hearings on the matter on September 2 and 3 and issued notices to all parties involved, including Kangana's Manikarnika Productions, the central government, the state government, and the Censor Board. Those who were not present during the hearings were issued electronic notices.

The petitioner’s lawyer, TS Rupraah, argued that the film's trailer depicts the Sikh community as cruel, which could lead to a negative image of them in society. During the hearing, the Acting Chief Justice acknowledged the Sikh community's contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in providing essential services like oxygen and food.

A similar petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court by the film’s co-producer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, claiming that the Censor Board has arbitrarily and illegally withheld the film's certification. The Bombay High Court criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and expressed confusion about how some groups can object to a film without even watching it.

Budget Of Emergency Movie
Kangana Ranaut's Emergency is made on a budget of Rs 60 to 70 crore. Its production budget is Rs 20 to 30 crore, which is relatively modest for a political drama. Kangana, who usually charges up to Rs 27 crore, is reportedly earning Rs 20 to 25 crore for this film. Another lead actor Anupam Kher is being paid Rs 4 to 5 crore. Despite its moderate production cost, the film's strong cast and historical subject are expected to generate a lot of interest.
