Thalapathy Vijay's film 'Greatest of All Time' (GOAT) is releasing on Thursday, September 5. ThVedaalm has received bumper advance bookings, and it seems likely to earn more on its opening day than 'Stree 2.' On the other hand, this could further complicate the already struggling films 'Vedaa' and 'Khel Khel Mein.'
At the box office, while 'Stree 2' has been breaking records for the past three weeks, South Indian films have been struggling. In August, 37 South Indian films were released, but only two managed to become hits. However, it seems that these dark clouds are about to clear. Thalapathy Vijay's film GOAT is witnessing tremendous advance bookings, indicating that the film is likely to earn bumper collections similar to 'Stree 2' on its opening day. If this Tamil film also makes an impact in Hindi, it could spell trouble for Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham's 'Veda' in the coming days.
Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller 'The Greatest of All Time' is releasing nationwide on September 5. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film features Vijay in a double role, which has led to sky-high advance bookings. By Wednesday afternoon, the film had already earned ₹18.71 crores in pre-sales.
GOAT Advance Booking Report
According to a report by Sacnilk, as of Wednesday afternoon, 92.93 lakh tickets had been sold in advance for GOAT, with half a day still left for booking. The film has earned ₹17.70 crores from its Tamil version in pre-sales, while tickets worth ₹27.29 lakhs have been sold for the Hindi version. The Telugu version has earned ₹46.62 lakhs, and ₹26.94 lakhs worth of tickets have been sold for the Tamil IMAX version.
GOAT Trails Slightly Behind Leo
GOAT has grossed over ₹50 crores worldwide from advance bookings just a day before its release. Although this is slightly less than Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster 'Leo' from last year, considering the changing circumstances in theaters over the past few months, these advance booking figures are a welcome relief.
GOAT Expected to Surpass 'Stree 2' on Opening Day
'Stree 2,' which was released on Independence Day, collected a net of ₹51.80 crores on its first day in India. The Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer grossed ₹80 crores worldwide on its opening day. The advance booking figures for GOAT suggest that it could do business of over ₹100 crores worldwide on its opening day, with around ₹60 crores expected from India alone.
GOAT Impact on 'Khel Khel Mein' and 'Veda' in Hindi
Although GOAT is not showing much momentum in Hindi yet, it is still likely to affect 'Khel Khel Mein' and 'Vedaa.' Both films are already struggling against the massive ₹492.30 crores earned by 'Stree 2' in 20 days, and now with GOAT's release, the number of their shows in theaters is expected to decrease further.
